
CRAIG
KENNEDY was born in Huron, South Dakota, on September
28, 1951. He received both his undergraduate and legal
education at the University of South Dakota, receiving
a Bachelor’s Degree in 1973 and a Juris Doctor in
1976. He was admitted to the Bar in 1976 and is also admitted
to practice before the United States District Court for
the District of South Dakota and the United States Court
of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
Following
law school, Mr. Kennedy served as law clerk for United
States District Court Chief Judge Fred Nichol. He has
practiced law in Yankton since 1977 and served as Yankton
County States Attorney from 1985-1993.
Mr.
Kennedy is currently a member of the American Board of
Trial Advocates (President of South Dakota Chapter), Association
of Defense Trial Attorneys, and American Health Lawyers
Association. He is also active with the South Dakota Defense
Lawyers Association (President 2008) and the State Bar
of South Dakota (Board of Bar Commissioners 1979-1981;
President, Young Lawyers Section 1982-1983; USD Law School
Foundation (President 1988-1989, Secretary 2008-2009);
and Judicial-Bar Liaison Committee (2002-present). He
has been a Special Assistant Attorney General for South
Dakota since 1995.

AND EXPERIENCE
Mr.
Kennedy specializes in the areas of civil and criminal
litigation, health law, business law, and real estate.
COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
Mr.
Kennedy is currently active with the Yankton Rotary Club
(President 1996-1997). He also serves on the Board of
Directors for the Yankton Rotary Foundation and as Chair
of the Yankton Community Library Building Task Force.
